PARK-Safe Programme

Caravan Parks, Villages and Resorts are deemed to be a Workplace (even if you are self-employed) by the governing workplace Legislation in each state (eg. in Queensland, it is the Workplace Health & Safety Act 1995).

Section 27A of the Queensland Act clearly states that:

"a person who conducts a business or undertaking has an obligation to ensure the Workplace Health & Safety of each person who performs a work activity".

This obligation also includes, identifying hazards, assessing risks that may result because of the hazards, deciding on control measures to prevent, or minimise the level of the risks, implementing control measures and monitoring and reviewing the effectiveness of the measures.

You are therefore required to identify, assess and suitably control hazards in your workplace and evidence by way of a suitably documented report is required.

You can Audit your business yourself (you would need to have access to copies of all relevant Acts and their Regulations, Codes of Practice, relevant Australian Standards, the Building Code of Australia etc.), or you can have someone else do it for you. Worklaw has negotiated a special rate with some State Associations and have been Auditing members and non-members for in excess of 16 years.

What is the PARK-Safe Programme?

Our Hazard Identification Audit Programme includes a Re-audit annually to maintain the currency of your Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) programme and plans to ensure that you meet the requirements of the legislation and avoid fines and prosecution for breaches of the act/failure to risk manage your workplace.

Our PARK-Safe auditing service is comprehensive, developed over 15 years and  provides a specifically tailored report with 'Action Plan Summary Table' for ease of reference and use.

INSURANCE

An Insurance Company’s Audit is NOT an Occupational Health & Safety Hazard Identification Audit. This Audit does not specifically cover the OH&S aspects required by the Legislation and if not performed by a qualified auditor may not be adequate for use as a defence in a court of Law for a breach of Common Law and is for Underwriters’ purposes only.

A Worklaw PARK-Safe audit covers some 21 OHS issues from:

  • Employees Duties & Training through to
  • Worker's Compensation
  • Storage and Use of Hazardous Substances,
  • Plant & Equipment
  • Lighting and Amenities
  • Work at Height
  • Electrical Compliance
  • Environmental compliance
  • Trees, Noxious plants
  • Fire and Emergency Provisions
  • safety systems
  • Asbestos
  • many other OHS, legal liability & risk management issues

All auditors are OHS qualified with extensive in house training and PARK-Safe auditing experience.

If you are already participating in our Risk Management Audit programme (this includes an Audit performed on our behalf by Alto Management Services), you will automatically qualify for Insurance benefits with Manufactured Homes Insurance Agency Pty Ltd!

In most instances, the cost of the Audit is more than covered by the premium benefits.  MHIA only insure those businesses that manage their risk, resulting in sustained low insurance premiums.
